Guerlain L’Essentiel High Perfection Foundation is the newest foundation from the house. The previous Guerlain L’Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation that launched a few years back is one of my go-to foundations until I started using this one from the brand. It is also one of the most visited articles on my website. This High Perfection version really caught my eye and interest to try it on. Guerlain L’Essentiel Primer is one of my favorite primers, especially when I need a very lightweight and comfortable base. It is also perfect to use in summers when my skin is a bit oilier than usual. It refines the skin and controls excess shine.

Guerlain L’Essentiel High Perfection Foundation follows the same design and packaging as the Natural glow version and the primer from the range. The bottle was designed by Mathieu Lehanneur. The inspiration behind this is the subtle art of balance. The bottle has an elegant frosted finish. I find it very unique and cute.

Not just the duo but the L'Essentiel brush is also a favorite of mine. It is very smooth and soft, which helps for flawless, even coverage that looks natural. The retractable brush is easy to use and travel with.

Shades

Guerlain L’Essentiel High Perfection Foundation is available in 30 shades. I have swatched 4 shades for your reference that are suitable for medium skin tones:

Guerlain L’Essentiel High Perfection Foundation is made from 96% naturally derived ingredients. The formula is very lightweight and comfortable on the skin. It is very smooth and creamy. The formula applies and blends without effort. The coverage is medium to medium-full. It is a pleasure to apply with the L'Essentiel brush. Moreover, it does not feel heavy or thick. It instantly blurs the problem areas and pores. Overall, the skin looks flawless. The skin looks even, radiant, and beautiful. It is not drying and also, does not emphasize any dryness or problem areas.

I like that the finish is natural velvety matte. It does not look flat or mask-like but is naturally radiant. Guerlain L’Essentiel High Perfection Foundation has impressive longevity. I find it lasts all day on me. At the end of the day, I do see it more radiant but that looks really natural and radiant. It has a subtle fragrance, similar to the L'Essential primer, that dissipates quickly. The scent is musky woody with white almond as the top note, white tea and middle note, and white musk and tonka bean as base notes. Overall, this foundation makes my skin look amazing and beautiful. It is perfect for everyday wear.

Guerlain L’Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation Review

I am a fan of the Guerlain Lingerie de Peau foundation for the last few years and it is one of my go-to foundations for everyday use. Guerlain L'Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation is one of the new launches which I have been so intrigued to try this year. Since the first look of the unique foundation bottle surfaced online, it has really created an impression of uniqueness and luxury from the house. The word ‘glow' in the name of the foundation is another plus-plus for me, I am all about the natural glow, dewy skin.

Guerlain L'Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation

Guerlain L'Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation is described as a foundation made with 97% naturally-derived ingredients with a natural glow finish that lasts for 16 hours. The formula combines makeup with the skincare benefits of hydrating, balancing, and protecting the skin from pollution. The unique design of the bottle by world-renowned designer Mathieu Lehanneur symbolizing the subtle art of balance.

Guerlain L'Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation has a creamy texture that blends easily into the skin and looks very natural after application until the end of the day without caking or breaking. The formula is pigmented and one and a half pumps is enough for me to have even more than medium coverage.

It blends nicely with my fingers, brush, and even a sponge. I do like it better with the brush launched along with the foundation called Guerlain L'Essentiel Retractable Foundation Brush. The finish is radiant glowy skin and after a few minutes, it is more of a dewy finish which I am obsessed with.

For my oily areas on the face – basically my nose and forehead, I use loose powder with a very light hand. It stays put all day with or without finishing powder. The pump bottle is really nice to work with. The finish looks very natural, like healthy supple radiant skin. With the skincare benefits of this formula, I am very positive it is keeping my skin in balance now and in the future.

Primer I Use Under This Foundation

The primer base I prefer under the foundation is the Guerlain Abeille Royale Youth Watery Oil which I religiously incorporate in my skincare routine, I am on my third bottle, it is that good. The combination works great to give a flawless radiant finish that lasts for over 10 hours on my skin. The foundation does work well with other Guerlain primers I have tested it with –
Guerlain Blurring Active Base and Guerlain L’Or Radiance Concentrate with Pure Gold.

For my medium skin tone with golden undertones, the closest match to my skin tone in Lingerie de Peau is 4N as I think 4W was a bit too yellow for me. I have swatched the Lingerie de Peau with the L'Essential Natural Glow Foundation in 4C, 4N, 4W. I am using 4N for both foundations, which means you can easily shade match from Lingerie de Peau to the new L'Essential foundation.

Retractable Brush

Guerlain Retractable foundation brush is also designed by Mathieu Lehanneur. The design is ergonomic and makes the application of the foundation a very pleasant and gentle ritual on the skin. It goes nicely on all the areas of the face, sides of the nose, eye contour. I did not experience any streaking or demarcation lines for a natural make-up finish. I have washed the brush a few times, easy to clean, and there has been no shedding. The innovative retractable sleeve protects the soft, synthetic fibers.

Overall, I am really impressed by the formula and finish of this foundation. This foundation is absolutely worth checking out.

Guerlain Lingerie de Peau SPF20 Foundation Review

Guerlain is a brand that has held high esteem for decades it was founded in 1828. The brand has a large loyal following, count me in, which is only possible when the creations from the brand are as good that they leave a positive impression on your personality and create that mark where you can feel the difference when you indulge in them. Guerlain is a brand with which my love started from a bronzer I purchased a few years back and I have not looked back. I was lucky to be able to try the new Guerlain Lingerie de Peau SPF20 Foundation and have been using it since last few weeks on and off that I am ready to write about it.

Guerlain's Lingerie de Peau, as described on the Guerlain official website, turns the dream of a perfect foundation into reality – so skin-fusing and natural that it can't be felt, can't be seen. Its fresh, light texture glides onto the contours of the face like a second skin to enhance beauty naturally, without artifice, all day long. Guerlain Technology, Bio-Fusion micro-mesh, an unprecedented combination of contouring and smoothing stretch fibres with natural silk and linen fibres that are in total affinity with the skin. Hydrating agents bring softness and comfort throughout the day. The foundation is available in 18 shades with undertones pink, neutral, and warm.

Packaging & How I Use It

The packaging of the foundation is in a heavy glass pump bottle. The product has a fragrance in it that is light floral which is very freshening while I apply it in the morning. The fragrance dissipates after some time. One pump is enough for me to give light coverage and with half or one extra pump, I am able to build up to a little less than full coverage, which is my preference these days. I use a brush normally to apply my foundation, and it works great with a dense foundation brush. I have also used my fingers to apply it to my face and it applied very nicely. It works well when mixed with Guerlain Abeille Royale Youth Watery Oil or if applied over it.

My Thoughts

The texture of the foundation is light and very smooth. It glides easily on the skin and blends nicely giving a very natural matte kind of finish. I would not say it is full matte but a very natural semi-matte. The skin looks more evened out, naturally radiant, and healthy.

The formulation stays put for the whole day, I have used it during the day for over 10 hours and my skin still looked fresh. I did not felt the need for a touchup, my skin looked naturally radiant as the day passed, from semi-matte to a little less than semi-matte, not oily in any way. For your reference, I have a combination skin type with oily areas on the nose, forehead, and center of the cheeks. I had no issues with the formula oxidized after some time of wearing it. It did not settle in my pores or emphasize my problem areas.

Shades

Now, coming to the shade range, there are 18 shades available with three undertones pink, neutral, and warm. I first tried 4W for my medium tan skin tone with warm undertones, the shade turned out to be orange on me which was a surprise as I thought I have very yellow undertones and this one looked perfect. Then I tried 4N, which is the perfect match for my skin tone. I mentioned this just for your reference that in case you are planning to purchase this online, I would suggest you try the shades in-store before purchasing. Also, I have swatched shade 4 with undertones Warm and Neutral so that you can see the difference.

I am really very satisfied with the formula and finish of this foundation. Moreover, I have experienced no breakouts, no irritations with this foundation. The foundation has performed well with and without primer. The added SPF20 is a plus point as sometimes I just follow with this foundation after my moisturizer and skip the sunscreen. The other makeup sits nicely on the foundation base. Overall, it is a really nice foundation if you are looking for a naturally radiant complexion that looks like a second skin.
