Bottega Veneta Eau de Parfum

Bottega Veneta Eau de Parfum

Bottega Veneta is a brand I admire. Bottega Veneta Eau de Parfum is the first fragrance from the house in collaboration with Coty Prestige and was launched in 2011. Bottega Veneta Eau de Parfum is a perfume that smells different from what we are used to from designer fragrances. Bottega Veneta Eau de Parfum is described as a leathery floral chypre, representing the scented signature of the house – the invisible, private luxury. The nose behind the fragrance is Michel Almairac.

From the vision of Bottega Veneta ‘When your own initials are enough', explained by the house as:  Discretion, quality, and unsurpassed craftsmanship–Bottega Veneta has established a new standard of luxury since its founding in Vicenza in 1966. Steeped in the traditions of Italy’s master leather craftsmen and renowned for its extraordinary leather goods, Bottega Veneta stands for individuality and self-confidence, a philosophy expressed in its famous motto, “When your own initials are enough.” The principles that define the brand are unchanging: outstanding craftsmanship, innovative design, contemporary functionality, and the highest quality materials. Also constant is Bottega Veneta’s commitment to its ateliers, where artisans of remarkable skill combine traditional mastery with breathtaking innovation. Indeed, there is an unusual and inspired collaboration between artisan and designer at the heart of Bottega Veneta’s approach to luxury, a partnership perfectly symbolized by the house’s signature intrecciato woven leather. Tomas Maier, the creative force behind Bottega Veneta, conceived of Bottega Veneta’s first fragrance as a dream of the Venetian countryside. In this vision, suffused with warmth, sunshine, and the gentle sound of cicadas, sits an elegant and austere old villa.

Combining soft, rounded curves and powerful shapes, a smooth outside and an intrecciato texture on the bottom, the Bottega Veneta bottle is an object that reveals its 26 complexity only over time. The colors are signature Bottega Veneta: a brunito cap and collar, an ebano logo, and a skin-colored leather ribbon clipped with a brunito butterfly. The bottle itself, inspired by Venetian glasswork and the traditional Italian carafe, designed with an eye for timeless lines

The top notes of the fragrance are Bergamot and Pink Pepper. The middle notes are Jasmine. The base notes of the fragrance are Patchouli, Oak Moss, and Leather. It is a beautiful composition which is sophisticated, darker yet soft. The bright spicy notes in the opening give creamy sweetness. Then it transforms into the creamy velvety warmth of moss and woods. The leather in the base notes is tender having that classical tangy leather richness without being smoky and rough. The floral notes in the fragrance remain hidden under the leather and woody notes and give a nice blend of both. Another fragrance I love from the house is Bottega Veneta Eau de Velours which I reviewed here.

This is a beautiful scent which is sophisticated, sexy and perfect for a self-assured confident yet understated woman. it is well-crafted, elegant, and can be the perfect signature scent. It can be more of winter or fall fragrance if you change the scents with the season but if you are more like the signature scent, it can be perfect all year long. For me, it is perfect to wear every day, every season, and everywhere. I have been wearing it to work and love it. It is warm, soft, creamy, fresh, and quiet. Quiet yet noticeable I mean. On my skin, it stays on for over 7 hours and longer on my clothes. For sure, it is one of my favorite fragrance, love how beautiful the scent is, the perfumer is indeed a genius.

Bottega Veneta Eau de Parfum is available at Hudson's Bay, Holt Renfrew.
