Fall's beauty trends are the opposite of no-makeup makeup: electric eye shadow swept across the eyes, berry lipsticks smeared over lips, and metallic pigments applied with the finesse of a Renaissance painter. This is so aptly described as the makeup trend for Fall 2017 by harpers bazaar. And going along with the trend for Fall 2017, Dior brings you a story of contrasts, the attraction of opposites, the alchemy of contradictory effects. These do sound big dreamy words from the point of view of a regular consumer or someone who loves makeup but does not know the depth behind the creation of it unless they use it and feel how the particular makeup product fits into the environment and season it is created for.
Peter Philips, the creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup, had the vision to explore possibilities of a season with opulent colors and rich textures, producing a clash of vibrant metallics and muted matte's. This Autumnal collection is electrified by the glint of metal forms which is very nicely blended into the whole chemistry of women with personalities strong and fragile, sensual and subversive, insolent and always sophisticated at the same time. Fall is all about color, to dare and play with colors is an ongoing trend and here I present to you the Dior Metallics Fall 2017 Collection which has metal, color, sophistication, courage and a lot more. I was sent these products as part of Press kit and I have tried and tested them for over a week before writing this review.
DiorShow Metalizer Eyes and Lips (CAD $32 excl taxes) are the latest hybrid product from the house of Dior, which brings a new dimension to make up with highly pigmented eyes and lips. This hybrid product is inspired by professional makeup but it is designed as an intuitive, take the anywhere product. The little nozzle tube contains the metal-effect pigments encapsulated in an ultra-creamy, lightweight, quick drying textured formulation. The Metalizer is applied with a finger to leave a light veil of color with a chrome effect on eyelids. For a bolder finish, the Metalizer is applied with a brush like a screen of light with a lasting vibrant sheen. The product stays on well for over 10 hours.
Another use of this Metalizer is to use this on its own all over the lips or in touches over the lipstick to play with contrasts. The color of the packaging is same as the product inside. These are available in 6 shades, namely, 068 Silver Shock, 528 Platine Fusion, 548 Copper Power, 678 Bronze Tension, 828 Pink Pulsion, 898 Plum Reflexion. I have swatched 528 Platine Fusion and 548 Copper Power which are perfect for my skin tone and can be used for a chrome effect or for a full-on screen of light based on the method of application. I did not notice any irritation while using these on my eyes and lips. I think they are going to look perfect in the fall when you need a bit of punch to make you feel beautiful.
For Fall 2017, the iconic palette from the house of Dior, 5 Couleurs plays with the contrasts perfect for the autumn ranging between matteness and light. The new formula comes with boasted texture that glides beautifully on the skin. The palette comes in four different tones and effects of matte, satiny, glittery and shiny.
Swatched are the Dior 5 Couleur EyeShadow 077 Magnetize (CAD $72 excl taxes) which is a smoky harmony of 5 colors.
Magnetize starts from an almost frosted gray to explore a scheme ranging from platinum and silver to fiery charcoal. I have used this palette for few times and it has a nice gliding texture and there is no fall-out. The staying power is nice as well as the blending.
To contrast with the opulent hues and metallic effects on the eyes, face, and nails, shades of Rouge Dior (CAD $43 excl taxes) for Fall 2017 are designed to flaunt the strong beauty with a chic style statement.
The lipsticks are creamy as well as pigmented. The staying time is well over 5-6 hours and I have not noticed any peeling or dryness when I tested them.
The shades swatched below are Rouge Dior 999 Metallic and Rouge Dior 526 Sensual Matte.Rouge Dior 999 Metallic is the iconic 999 in flamboyant, almost orange red with metallic effect. Rouge Dior 526 Sensual Matte is a pretty, irreverent beige.
To pair with the new matching shades of Rouge Dior, the Rouge Dior Contour pencil (CAD $36 excl taxes) is designed to subtly line the lips and complete the look of well-defined lips. The lip pencil is creamy and glides on easily over the lip line. I did notice the lipstick stays on for longer than usual time with the lip liner and the shade swatched below is 948 Enigmatic Matte which looks perfect for even lining the lips with or without lipstick for my skin tone. There is a brush on the other side from the lip pencil which is very handy when you have to blend and use the lip pencil to fill in the lips. The Lip Contour is suitable to either use as a base for lipstick as well as to use it on its own. This Contour pencil comes with a sharpener.
Overall, I am really looking forward to using this collection's in-trend metallics and bold colors for the fall. All these products are available at Dior Counters and from the respective retailer websites.
