I must admit, skincare ranges that are introduced by make-up-first brands don’t usually appeal to me. I’m not sure why – it’s not that I don’t trust that it’s going to be good stuff. It’s more that I just like to keep my make-up and my skincare totally separate (which may sound totally illogical, but for some reason makes perfect sense in my head!).
That’s why, when it came to trying the Nars Light Reflecting skincare collection, I was a little dubious. But then I read into the products and realized that there is some pretty cool technology that’s gone into developing them. There are 4 products in this range that I tried. The moisturizer, multi-action treatment, eye & lash gel and firming serum. All of which I can actually say seriously impressed me!
The Products
My favourite product from the range has got to be the Light Reflecting Eye & Lash Gel. I’ve not really seen a product like this before. It’s an all-in-one formula that not only gets to work on dark circles but also on nourishing and thickening lashes at the same time. It’s packed with ingredients such as peptides, hyaluronic acid, pro-vitamin B5 and more to not only keep the skin around the eyes hydrated and radiant, but lashes looking fuller and longer, too.
I was also really impressed by the Light Reflecting Multi-Action Treatment Lotion. It is a softening lotion that helps to rid skin of dead skin cells. My skin instantly felt so much smoother after using this product, and my skin didn’t feel stripped. I follow up this treatment with the Light Reflecting Firming Serum, which is the ultimate product if you’re a glow-getter like me. Like all products in this range, it contains the brand’s Advanced Light Reflecting Complex. It is basically gold fortified peptides and red snow extract. They all work together to make skin firmer, plumper and more lit-from-within.
If I was on a budget and had to choose one product from the range, however, it would be the Light Reflecting Moisturizer. For days when I simply don’t have time to do a long skincare routine, this is a great moisturizer to use post-cleanser. And it actually leaves skin not needing much make-up. Because of its light-reflecting ingredients, I find that I don’t need to use a primer. And I’ll often not bother with foundation either, because of the glow I get from this alone.
What I thought of the Nars Light Reflecting Skincare Collection
Overall, I loved this collection. Whether it’d be the first thing I reach for when I want a serious pampering session is another story – but for an everyday, affordable, effective routine, I think this range is a winner. It has a hint of scent to it, so probably not great for people with sensitive skin – although my skin can be sensitive and didn’t seem to flare up using this. I would definitely buy this again!
