YSL Beauty Pure Shots Light Up Serum is part of YSL's Shots collection. This is one of the serums that brightens the skin immediately after use but still ensures safety for the skin. The ingredients of the serum are extremely expensive, it is known as the divine formula to help revive tired skin due to staying up late, being exposed to dirt or hot sun.

Key Ingredients

Marshmallow Flower Essence: YSL's exclusive nutrient, works to create a skin barrier, repel the production of melanin pigment that causes melasma.

Vitamin Cg: Has the same effect as Marshmallow Flower. In addition, Vitamin Cg also helps to brighten skin and anti-aging.

Hyaluronic Acid: provides an outstanding moisturizing ability and helps skin plump.

This Serum comes in gel form and is milky white in colour. When applied, the serum is quickly absorbed into the skin without leaving any streaks. The product is designed with 2 layers including a rectangular outer shell and around an inner core. The pump nozzle of YSL Beauty Pure Shots Light Up Serum has an extremely convenient cover.

My Review

Initially, I used Pure Shots Light Up Serum in my nighttime skincare routine. I apply it right after cleansing with a cleanser. Each time I use it, I use an amount equal to 2 pumps. In addition, I also combined it with Pure Shots Perfect Plumper Cream of the same brand to increase the skin's moisturizing ability. The very next morning after using it, I felt my skin was recharged with energy. The signs of overwork such as dull skin, dry skin are gone.

This Serum has helped my skin look supple. My skin looks and feels firmer and radiant. Normally, my skin is also quite light in colour. Therefore, I cannot rate the skin-enhancing capabilities of YSL Beauty Pure Shots Light Up Serum. However, its ability to repel wrinkles has been proven. My lines and wrinkles around my eyes and mouth corner are fuller after 4 weeks of using this serum.

YSL Beauty Pure Shots Light Up Serum has a very luxurious fragrance. I have no issues with fragrance in skincare products. And the one in this serum is pleasant and never irritated my nose or my skin. I also love the design of the bottle of this Serum. It shows the noble spirit of environmental protection. When I run out of serum, I can refill it by purchasing individual serum bags and refilling the old vial.

YSL Beauty Rouge Volupte Shine Review

I know you might be thinking that we are already in the new year (thank god) and why am I sharing the holiday collection from last year – is because I received the collection on the last day of the last year and while testing the products, I could not stop myself to share more about them and also I noticed that the limited edition products are still available on their official website as well as selected retailers. Coming back to what the collection includes and what are my favourites. Also, it has my favourite Rouge Volupte Shine in limited edition packaging.

YSL Beauty Holiday 2020 Collection includes basically everything needed for a full face – eye and face palette, lipsticks, and concealer – all in limited edition packaging.

Encre de Peau mini cushion highlighter

Encre de Peau mini cushion highlighter is a new highlighting sheer formula for a luminous look on the go. I have not used the original cushion but the formula of this mini cushion is very smooth and lightweight.

It blends in pretty nicely, gives a beautiful and natural luminous finish. For my medium skin with tan undertones, this shade works ok as it is sheer and a little is all I need to use. It is encapsulated in a gold glitter baby cat pattern case for the wildest and most festive look. Buy HERE.

Rouge Volupte Shine

Coming to my most favourite of all time, Rouge Volupte Shine in limited edition holiday packaging. I have been a fan of its melting texture and scent for years now. I have used it more as a lip balm for years, it is so nourishing and the plus point is that it imparts colour to the lips that are very comfortable. The ingredients have 6 sensorial oils that enhance lips with their melty texture and fresh colours. The same formula is now available in 4 festive red and pink shades (all swatched below). I have only swatched shade 2 Ivoire Lumiere in this limited edition packaging, which for me personally does not match my skin tone. For your reference, I have used this highlighter/concealer in my exact shade in the past and have loved it. This illuminator and Rouge Volupte Shine are my essentials.

Couture Colour Clutch Eyeshadow Palette

Couture Colour Clutch Eyeshadow Palette in 10 festive shades and different finishes in a limited edition packaging. The shades work well for audacious & buildable eye looks. The finish of the eyeshadows is matte, pearly, satiny, and metallic finishes. However, I did not find the formula to be very pigmented but otherwise, the texture is smooth and no issues applying it. Rouge Pur Couture

The iconic Rouge Pur Couture is available in limited edition packaging. Rouge Pur Couture is a full-coverage satin lipstick with good pigment and longevity. The formula has a comfortable texture, saturated in pigments, for couture and satiny lips. In addition, the formula is intensely hydrated. It leaves the lips feeling soft and smooth. The collection includes 4 festive red shades and a red-glitter baby cat pattern, for the wildest and most festive look. I have swatched 1 Le Rouge for your reference.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte range has been around since 2008. It is growing since then – be it the limited edition launches or new additions to the range – it has become a cult favourite. The lipstick has gorgeous melty shine finish and an array of fresh colours. It has been one of my favourites since the first time I tried it a few years back. Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Rock'n Shine is the new addition to the Volupte range.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Rock'n Shine has a silvery cap that sparkles. Inside is a lipstick bullet with a silver star that contains plant-sourced glitters running through its middle. It makes the lips sparkle with rock star glitters, bringing a high-sparkling shine and intense shine. The lipstick glides smoothly and comfortably on the lips, the thin glitter film feels moisturizing, and at one with lips.

The formula of the lipstick is intensely hydrating and nourishing – even the driest lips like mine. The lips are soft and supple. The coverage is medium and buildable. The dreamy smooth formula with the signature mango scent is just too good to be without.

Shades

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Rock'n Shine is available in 16 shades of vibrant colour. From a pinky-nude beige to a rocking coral, each shade is perfectly set off by the added sparkle in the formula. The shades swatched in the picture below are:

YSL Beauty Slim Sheer Matte Review

Yves Saint Laurent Beauty has launched a new matte lipstick with a sheer lightweight colour called Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Sheer Matte. The formula is very lightweight and comfortable to wear. It is not drying and glides on nicely on the lips while giving the desirable coverage – it is easily buildable. The unique square bullet design makes for a neat and precise application.

The slim silver and black packaging look very elegant and the unique square bullet design makes for a neat and precise application. There is a light scent to the lipstick which dissipates quickly. The sheer formula is perfect for everyday use and is easily buildable with more swipes. The shades of Slim Sheer Matte look very natural on the lips with one swipe.

The staying power of the lipstick is pretty nice for sheer coverage and matte finish, just that it looks very natural and sheer with one swipe. It does not dry my lips. The lipstick looks beautiful in the bag or on the vanity with the slim bullet gives an edge of sophistication. The formula of Slim Sheer Matte is smooth and light. I also like the YSL Beauty Water Stain.

YSL Beauty Vernis a Levres Water Stain Review

Water Stain, the name alone makes my dry lips feel comfortable. Yves Saint Laurent has launched a new formula for lips called Vernis a Levres aka Water Stain. Water Stain is a water-enriched, lightweight stain that comfortably drenches lips in a brilliant, high-shine colour that feels fresh and non-sticky.

Water Stain has 40% water-enriched formula applies effortlessly to the lips while hydrating and delivering buildable vivid colour. The YSL exclusive applicator, inspired by the curve of a wave, precisely applies this weightless formula for a luxurious look and feel without the sticky texture.

The lip stain has a mango scent like other YSL lip products and I love it personally, very subtle yet delicious. The lip stain feels very bouncy, lightweight, and comfortable on the lips. Moreover, it does not feel sticky on the lips at all. The formula is easily buildable, one coat gives me a sheer hint of colour, two coats give a medium coverage, while three coats work nicely to give full coverage to the lips and intense bright colour.

I have dry lips and this lip stain did not make them drier but kept them comfortable. The staying power of the water stain is okay, I can not compare it with other water stains that may be available in the market as this is something new for me. The stain stays okay for over an hour or two before I feel the need to reapply. The finish of the water stain is glossy. Personally, I apply the water stain on my lips and then budge it with my finger to give a very natural hint of colour when I am not in the mood for glossy lips. In conclusion, I have noticed that it does make my lips look fuller.
