Jo Malone London The Marmalade Collection Review

Jo Malone London The Marmalade Collection Review

Jo Malone London The Marmalade Collection has launched for summer 2021. It is a limited-edition collection. The collection reminds me of a beautiful summer day and a fun-filled heart. The inspiration behind the collection is the vibe and warmth of families gathering, bright colors, laughs, marmalades, and jams sitting on gingham tabletops. This setting goes behind the latest launches from Jo Malone London The Marmalade Collection. There are 5 delectable scents inspired by the nostalgic scenes and marmalade dreams. I know circumstances have changed and as we age, there are few memories stuck in the mind that allow us to relive and recreate them. The British love of marmalade is one of the best knowns and thus, the inspiration behind this collection too. Also, Marmalade making is a British tradition.

Jo Malone London The Marmalade Collection is the work of two perfumers, Nicolas Bonneville and Marie Salamagne. Behind the scenes included choosing fruit-based ingredients that could be potentially adapted for a fragrance. Then tasting the various types, processing, finalizing, a production that has gone behind the scenes. And above all, the love for the whole idea and Marmalades. Fruit extracts, in general, are very volatile ingredients that can not be directly added to fragrances. So, fruity notes were introduced into the fruit extracts. Fruit extract added freshness, vibrancy while staying natural at the same time. The scents in the collection pay homage to the single ingredient jams. And this concept also encourages pairing the scents with one or more scents. Out of the 5 fragrances in this collection, I have tried 2 and totally in love.

Blackberry & Bay Cologne

The memory behind this scent from Jo Malone London The Marmalade Collection is the childhood blackberry picking. It is a unisex aromatic fruity fragrance. The nose behind the scent is Fabrice Pellegrin. This scent is the core of the collection. That means it pairs beautifully with other scents in the collection.

Below are the keynotes of the fragrance:

  • Top Note – Blackberry
  • Middle Note – Bay Leaves
  • Base Note – Cedarwood

The top note releases an instant burst of juiciness that is very refreshing. The bay leaves add natural brightness to the scent while the cedarwood adds intensity to the scent. It is a subtle fresh fruity scent. Also, it is a nice base to layer fragrances as well to apply on its own. The sillage is ok, it stays close to the skin. The longevity is nice on my skin.

Orange Peel Cologne

The memory behind this creation from Jo Malone London The Marmalade Collection is orange peel simmering on the stove, its zesty aroma, and bitter bite tantalizing the senses. The fragrance hits the right balance between that fruit and the bitterness of the rind. It is a truly golden fragrance. Orange Peel Cologne is a unisex citrusy aromatic fragrance.

Orange Peel, as the top note, strikes the balance between the bitter-fresh and zesty properties. The orange bigarade in the middle note adds the sparkling freshness that enhances the top note texture too. The base note adds warmth and sensuality to the scent. It is a pleasant scent with a lot of freshness and sparkle. Based on the chemistry of your skin and the time of the year, this may work differently. I am liking it very much for the summer. It brightens up my senses and the day. The longevity on me is nice and the sillage is moderate. It keeps reminding me of itself on and off for over 4-5 hours during the summers. Also, I do not get the bitterness or sweetness as such but a subtle mixture of both.

Layering Orange Peel Cologne with the Blackberry & Bay Cologne intensifies the freshness and I can feel the mixture of green and orange notes the most. The sillage of them together is better than each of them when worn alone. The longevity is also good. I feel the combination is quite balanced.

Also, I recently shared the Jo Malone London Blossoms Collection launched for spring this year. I am using the new launches along with the spring scents. Frangipani Flower and Nashi Blossom are beautiful at this time of the year.
