Nothing gets rid of stubborn make-up and grime quite as good as a cleansing balm. While makeup wipes are not efficient enough, and foaming cleansers can dry the skin, a cleansing balm is a good suits-all solution. Packed with skin-loving ingredients, they nourish skin, but they are also unrivalled when it comes to emulsifying stubborn makeup. Not only that, but most are so luxurious that they enable a spa-like ritual at home. I use a cleansing balm every single day, so I have several favourites. Here are my top few…
1. Sisley Paris Triple-Oil Balm Makeup Remover And Cleanser
Sisley’s balm cleanser is the epitome of sheer luxury. Once applied to the skin, it turns into a fine oil and melts away the day's sins. It should then be swiped off with a warm flannel. You’ll find that there is no need for a second cleanse as it is so efficient! It’s packed with babassu, shea, and macadamia, all of which keep skin soft and nourished without feeling greasy. It is one of the top five Best Luxury Cleansing Balms I have tried.
2. La Prairie Supreme Balm Cleanser
Tough enough to melt away make-up, yet gentle enough to keep skin's natural defences intact, this product makes for a seriously luxury cleanse. It begins as a balm and turns into an oil upon contact with skin. It then transforms into a milky consistency that can be rinsed off easily. I reach for this product when my skin is feeling a little sensitive. It is one of the Best Luxury Cleansing Balms I have tried.
3. Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm
I love a skincare product with interesting, rare properties. This product’s leading ingredient is Hungarian moor mud, a powerhouse for drawing out excess oils and impurities in the skin. I tend to find that this cleanser is the best out of the bunch for removing waterproof mascara.
4. Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm
This product is one of Elemis’ bestselling products – and it’s for a reason! Not only does it do the job of ridding the skin of make-up, but its collagen ingredient also helps with elasticity. I sometimes use this product as a mask, by applying a thin layer onto clean skin and leaving it to work for half an hour before removing it.
5. Valmont Icy Falls Cleansing Balm
This cleanser uses one of the purest waters in the world – Swiss spring water – as its main ingredient. As a result, it removes makeup really well and gives skin a much-needed hit of freshness. I like to use this product in the morning, as it revives my skin ready for the day. It is one of my top five Best Luxury Cleansing Balms.
6. Oskia Micro Exfoliating Balm
One of the most vitamin-rich cleansers I have used, Oskia’s offering is brimming with fruit enzymes and vitamins C and E. It goes onto the skin as an exfoliating creamy balm and buffs away the skin cells while lifting impurities in an instant.
7. Chantecaille Rose de Mai Cleansing Balm
If you love an antioxidant-rich cleanser, look no further! This cleansing balm is full of rosehip, tamanu oil, raspberry stem cell extracts and hyaluronic acid which all get to work on purifying the skin and hydrating it at the same time.
8. Espa Yuzu & Ginger Cleansing Sorbet
Enriched with zingy Ginger and luxurious Yuzu Oil, this cleansing balm from ESPA is all about the spa vibe and good results. It helps to melt away impurities and leave skin with a radiant, healthy-looking glow. The nourishing balm has just the right consistency that does not feel thick and sticky. I suggest using a warm cleansing cloth to remove it.
