Rahua is a plant-based product range that heals, nourishes, beautifies, and transforms the hair for good. Rahua hair care products are known for their pure ingredients, amazing formulations, and unparalleled performance. If you are not aware of the brand, Rahua was founded in 2008 by Fabian Lliguin, a renowned hairstylist and colorist in New York and his wife and business partner, Anna Ayers-Fabian. The story started when Fabian was visiting the Amazon rainforest as an environmentalist, educating indigenous people about their land rights and human rights when he noticed that the women there has very long and lustrous hair. Fabian asked them the secret behind so beautiful and healthy hair which they said was Rahua Oil. After that, there was no looking back. Fabian didn’t want to disrupt the process and so, Rahua oil was – and – is produced by the same tribe in the same complex, ritualistic and sustainable fashion as it has been for generations.
I have been using Rahua products for the last month and feel that there is healing, nourishing, and transformation in how my hair looks behaves and feels. I have been using the Classic Shampoo, Classic Conditioner, Rahua Founder’s Blend, Omega 9 Hair Mask, and Enchanted Island Salt Spray.
Rahua Classic Shampoo is a very luxurious textured shampoo that feels rich and nourishing when applying. It makes my hair feel so soft, literally, I have very dry hair for your reference and itchy sensitive scalp. This shampoo is definitely on my top 3, it is so good. My scalp feels so comfortable and soothing – I am not sure after how many years but this is one single shampoo that does it all. And these are my thoughts just after using the shampoo, it is a keeper. The formula of this shampoo is concentrated and a little is enough to keep the scalp and hair in balance – not too oily and not too dry. I also want to mention that the shampoo smells so nice, the scene is natural and uplifting.
Rahua Classic Conditioner is a very hydrating conditioner without weighing down the hair. It detangles the hair while making them look healthy and lustrous. It is gentle enough to be applied to the scalp for a healthy and comfortable scalp. Not just as an in-shower conditioner but it also works well as a leave-in styling cream to add shine to the hair while keeping them smooth and tame frizz.
Rahua Founder’s Blend Scalp & Hair Treatment is the newest launch from Rahua and I would say I am impressed. I have used it twice as an overnight treatment for my scalp and hair. Per the brand, this treatment brings balance back to the scalp’s microbiome, in other words, it strengthens hair roots as well as balance scalp moisture levels while soothing the scalp. I am not sure of how the scalp’s microbiome works but what this treatment has done for me is almost per the description. My scalp is soothed, no itchiness, hair feels very soft, silky, and hydrated without feeling oily or weighed. It has anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant properties too.
Rahua Omega 9 Hair Mask is another star from Rahua. It is a conditioning hair mask that deeply hydrates the hair from root to tip leaving them strong, soft, and shiny. When I use this mask, I do not use conditioner in the shower. I shampoo my hair, work the massage onto the scalp and hair, massage nicely and then leave it on for 10-15 minutes. It keeps the hair and scalp healthy and comfortable.
Rahua Enchanted Island Salt Spray is crafted with natural pink sea salt for texture and volume. It is lightweight and provides a light hold also. It is, like other products from the brand, very gentle on the scalp. It gives very natural, loose, and beachy waves.
From all the products I have tried from Rahua, it is hard for me to choose a favourite. It is definitely a range I would always love to keep on my haircare shelf and in my haircare routine. From the shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, and styling products – every product is gentle enough for my sensitive scalp and their performance is top-notch. I would love to try more products from Rahua and share it with you. Rahua products are available at Rahua.com and retailers in Canada located here.*Press samples
