If there’s any brand you’ll consistently find beauty editors raving on about, it’s Elemis. Not only because of its super luxurious professional treatments but because the at-home product range is just as good if used correctly. From serums to creams, body treatments to hair products, and just about everything in-between, Elemis has a great offering for anyone that wants to treat themselves to a beauty product.
I had never tried one of the brand’s hero products, the Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm. But I have been eager to try it for years. I’ve always been a bit wary of using a balm-textured cleanser, as I suffer from breakouts. And my worry was that the thick texture is going to aggravate my skin. Even so, I had never heard anyone complain about this so-called ‘wonder balm’. Therefore, I was excited to finally give it a go.
The cleanser contains a range of skin–loving ingredients, which each operate to serve the skin in a different way. The padina pavonica ingredient helps with skin elasticity, while the mimosa flower wax adds a hit of hydration. It also contains starflower oil, a key ingredient for upping moisture in the skin. There are also almond, coconut, and shea oils that calm and nourish the skin. As if that weren’t enough, there are also ingredients with firming and plumping properties. That includes elderberry seed oil, wheat germ, and vitamin E, which shield the skin from free radical damage.
How I Use It & My Review
On opening the cleanser, I was a bit skeptical of how a product with such thickness could be as gentle on the skin as it claims to be. It also smelled very herbal, a bit like a spa. And I was worried that maybe it wouldn’t get along well with my sensitive skin. But nevertheless, I got stuck in any way!
I followed the instructions on the box and started by smoothing the Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm all over my face, neck, and down to my décolletage. I then gently massaged it into my skin with wet fingertips, before dampening them and working the product into my skin further. I then left the cleanser to work its magic for a couple of minutes. Then, wipe it off with a warm, damp cleansing cloth.
After removing the cleanser from my skin, it instantly felt energized and plump. That is a rare result to get just from a cleanser. I also found that the product is great at nourishing my skin. In addition, it also really helped to remove even the most stubborn of makeup. I like to wear thick layers of mascara – which can be a real pain and effort to remove before bedtime. But this cleansing balm made it a breeze. The smell didn’t seem to bother my skin either, which was a winner!
After using the product daily for a month, I don’t have any complaints. If you want to be instantly transported to an imaginary spa for a facial every time you cleanse, this is definitely for you!
