Why Can The Sun Cause Skin Pigmentation?

Many things can cause hyperpigmentation, but the sun is one of the most common. Hear me out! You will not come home with sun spots if you step out into the sun for short periods. Excess sun exposure over the years causes this type of pigmentation.

The skin produces Melanin, which is responsible for cell protection and colouring your skin. Melanin works by placing itself on top of your skin cells to shield them from UV rays. Depending on your skin carnation, you have more or less of these. When present in a too-large quantity, you will see the appearance of dark spots.
