You might have heard of ‘Food for the face' here and there but when it comes to the real reasoning on why it is called so, it might not fit well into the whole concept. But what I am referring to here is the brand which, in my opinion, has a solid backup of why it is called ‘Superfood for the skin'. Superfoods are the foods which contain antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins that provide a host of benefits for the skin as well as the body and overall health like Kale and Spinach.
Youth To The People or ‘Superfood for the skin' is a brand with clean, greens-based products that are suitable for most of the skin types for their formulas and effectiveness. The products are packed with a concoction of skin and body healthy nutrients, antioxidants, minerals, vitamins, and phytonutrients from cold-pressed plant extracts. The other thing I really like about the brand is that they work on small batches for maximum freshness. I have been testing three products from the brand including the new Superberry Hydrate and Glow Oil.
Youth To The People Superfood Cleanser is a gentle daily cleanser for the face which is formulated with cold-pressed antioxidants – kale, spinach, and green tea – to cleanse, calm, and purify the skin. It works nicely to prevent buildup in pores and balance pH without drying or stripping. This is a really nice first cleanse for the mornings and second cleanse for the evenings for me. This is indeed the green juice cleanse for your face in terms of the brand's vocabulary and vision for the superfoods. The texture has a gel texture and has a fresh herbal scent to it.
Youth To The People Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream is a moisturizing cream suitable for dry skin but I am glad to try it during the fall when my skin is behaving and as we enter into winter, my skin needs more moisture. The Adaptogenic herbs and mushrooms in this cream calm the skin when faced with daily stressors like UV rays and environmental pollutants. The Pentapeptide calms the stress reaction in the sensitive and irritated skin. The Proprietary Adaptogen Blend contains Ashwagandha, Rhodiola, Reishi, and Holy Basil, all these ingredients made me more excited to try this because, my background being from India, all these herbs have been a part of my day to day vocabulary as well as life. With healing properties, treatment for stress, anxiety, exhaustion, Ashwagandha is something I do take orally too and so glad to apply it on my face with this cream. It has a really nice smooth texture which melts into the skin and there is no scent in the cream. It leaves a nice glow on the skin and no residue or oiliness.
Youth To The People Superberry Hydrate and Glow Oil is a face oil that harnesses the nutrients of rare super berries. This oil has Maqui, the most antioxidant dense fruit in the world, which is combined with açaí and goji, creating a potent antioxidant elixir. Also included are the intensely hydrating prickly pear and squalane oil to lock in moisture with the help of omega fatty acids and high levels of vitamin C. It is very lightweight and easy to apply, sinks in nicely without giving any residue or feeling of oiliness.
There is a fruity scent to the oil which is very uplifting. It works great on its own after serum and before moisturizer during the day and even a drop of this oil in the foundation makes a nice difference in how fresh and dewy the skin looks.
Overall, a real superfood treats for the skin. I am really liking the products and they will be staying in the rotation in my skincare routine. Youth To The People products are available at Sephora Canada, Sephora, Free People Canada, and Nordstrom.
