My Review

It was my first time trying the Aerin scents, but I immediately fell in love with the Mediterranean honeysuckle perfume. The only way I can explain the smell is to compare it to a warm, sunny day bottled up. 

I love a perfume that has a story, and this perfume stays true to its inspiration. The floral and citrus notes bring balance and deliver a long-lasting and lifting fragrance. I will definitely be wearing this during spring, and I love how it has an unusually addictive character. The different scents from the Aerin collection remind me of the timeless Aqua Allegoria collection from Guerlain. The bottles are just stunning, and I love how Estee Lauder made each bottle with its unique stone top.

After discovering Aerin's floral fragrance collection, I have to share my all-time favourite scent with you.

Ikat Jasmine

In this velvety and fresh scent, the floral note of Jasmine is pushed to the front of the stage. Delivering an intense yet luminous note, the perfume creates an elegant sillage behind those that wear it. Floral perfumes are often underestimated, but this fragrance has collected unique notes worldwide. Moreover, the perfume combines a rare bouquet, deep woody notes from Egypt, and exotic landscapes.

The Notes

Inspired by the Indonesian dyeing technique of “Ikat,” this fragrance binds notes together to become one unique perfume. The fragrance opens with a duo of Jasmine Sambac and Jasmine Egypt. Extremely fresh and sweet. The two notes create an addictive note. In the fragrance's heart lies the Tuberose flower adding a velvety touch to the perfume. And last, the re-energizing scent of Honeysuckle and Sandalwood set a sensual and long-lasting base.

The Perfume Comes With A Precious Stone

Aerin's fragrances come with a beautiful glass bottle and metallic top. The Ikat Jasmine is topped with a precious white stone, reflecting the pureness and light this perfume releases.

Unlike any other fragrance brand I know of, these perfumes are about more than just smelling nice but experiencing the notes and finding a scent that best represents you.

My Review

I recently reviewed the “Cedar Violet” (review here) and “Wild Geranium“(review here) fragrances from Aerin's collection and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I decided to try the travel-friendly format of Ikat Jasmine and loved experimenting with layering it with the other perfumes.

The Ikat Jasmine is a beautiful perfume that lasts a couple of hours on the skin. It is better to vaporize this scent on an inner jacket or scarf for a long-lasting result. Also, I love how this scent's woody notes balance the freshness of the two types of white Jasmine.

Overall, I recommend this to those that enjoy scents such as the Dior “Jasmin des Anges” or “Idole” from Lancome.

Just like Hermes's “garden” collection, you can travel through each of these scents and discover a world of unique and daring ingredients.

I previously tried the new ” Eau Rêvée d'Aria” (review here) and “L’Eau Rêvée d’Isa” (review here). I adore them both.

L'eau de revee d'Ikar / Ikar's dreamy water perfume

The ancient myth of Icarus inspires this powerful and seductive scent. Ikar's dreamy water is composed of green mastic essence and vetiver. Turning your world upside-down, the perfume is made for the adventurous. Combining both elements of sun and freshness, the scent will take you on a journey through the breathtaking landscapes of Corsica—a treasured destination of the D'Ornano family.

The Notes

This unisex fragrance opens up with a tangy citrus note of lemon, bitter Orange, and Geranium. Awakening your senses, this trio invites you to discover the dream's heart.

Sisley is known for there unique blend of ingredients. In this perfume, the less-known spice of Lentisco is used to achieve an almost resin-like scent, combined with Iris's powdery notes and Reed accord's earthy notes. This scent is perfectly balanced. Ikar finishes on a deep green and woody note. Very masculine, the blend of Vetiver and Sandalwood gives the perfume a touch of mystery as you can imagine walking along the rocky coast of Corsica. ALso, you will spot a species of rockrose that creates a resin called labdanum in this perfume, it is sure to spike people's curiosity.

My Experience

I don't know where to start when it comes to this collection. The dreamy waters hit all the right spots for perfume, and I can't get enough of the Ikar scent.

I generally opt for a sweeter perfume, but I love this perfume on my partner. The perfume evolves into a classy, fresh scent that surprisingly last long. I love how Ikar has so many rare ingredients inside, and I recommend this to those looking to step out of the box.

I tried this scent on myself and discovered a more floral finish as the perfume evolves, so definitely give it a go on the skin. This dream sparks my imagination of a fresh summer breeze. A big win from Sisley!

An ode to feminity

The French brand has recently released a new fragrance, “Valaya”. With its pure and radiant bottle, this perfume holds a fresh yet intense scent.

Valaya The Fragrance

The perfume gives off a shining aura from the moment you lay your eyes on it. This brand-new fragrance brings an intimate sensation and a breath of fresh air to all that wear it. Inspired by the petticoat ladies used to wear under their garments during the 18th century, Valaya combines both periods: past and present. The highly fresh scent reminds me of fresh linen.

Made in France, the perfume is the perfect representation of contrasts. Delicate yet powerful, its scent represents all of the feminine qualities. Behind this glorious perfume are two talented noses Julien Sprecher and the French perfumer Quentin Bisch.

The Notes

Below are the notes of Parfums de Marly Valaya:

• Top Notes – The perfume opens up with a burst of citrussy juice: Bergamot, Mandarin, and White Peach.
• Heart Notes – Warming the heart of the fragrance are Orange Flowers, Nympheal, and Vetiver.
• Base Notes – The sensual touch to the perfume comes from the three base notes: Akigalawood, Ambrofix, and Musk.

The unbeatable duo: Mandarin and Ambrofix.

The perfume is built up around these two particular notes. This should be right up your street if you love citrussy scents.

MANDARIN

Known as one of the most comforting notes, the Mandarin used in this perfume is cultivated in Italy. The brand uses both peel and pulp to obtain the note. By doing so, the fruit delivers a juicy facet that is naturally produced.

AMBROFIX

This ingredient is at the heart of the sensual touch the perfume has. Obtained from 100% natural sugarcane, the amber molecule, when in contact with the skin, adds a warm feeling to Valaya.

My Experience

I am familiar with Parfums de Marly fragrances, so I expected high quality and special notes in the new perfume. I am happy that they opted for a fresher scent in their latest collection, and Valaya screams out feminity at its best. The aroma is beautiful and can be worn easily throughout the day. With its citrus notes at the opening, the fragrance evolves and becomes a more intimate and cozy perfume. Ideal for those who don't like overpowering scents, Valaya is the perfect balance between freshness and sensuality. I would class Valaya as medium longevity, meaning that I could still smell it on an evening but very faintly. It makes a beautiful day-to-day fragrance and instantly lifts my mood when wearing it. I also think that Valaya is suitable for different age groups, and the scent reminds me of freshly washed clothes.

If you have yet to discover the scent, it is worth it. Parfums de Marly selects the highest quality actives when creating their scent. The French perfumer Quentin Bisch is behind some fantastic scents such as “Girls can do anything” from Zadig & Voltaire and multiple Chloe Fragrances. Valaya definitely has his touch.
