The Inspiration

The entire Delina collection was inspired by strong characters from the times of LouisXV. Parfums de Marly created Delina to celebrate women and their transition from tradition to “freedom”.

Using the hand-picked, majestic Damanesca Rose from Turkey. He sculpted the different faces of the rose to create a fresh and floral perfume.

The Delina Collection

Made up of three iconic fragrances, Parfums de Marly offers different takes on the original Rose note. So which one suits you best?

• Delina: Elegance in a bottle. The addictive notes of Rose and Litchi mix to create a fresh, fruity perfume.
• Delina la rosée: The fresh morning dew. A fresh aquatic perfume that refreshes the senses. The little rose and water flowers offer a fresher version of Delina.
• Delina Exclusif: sophistication at its best. The classic rose takes a more Ambered scent with a more mysterious character. Wrapped with notes of incense, this perfume has a more intense fragrance.

Delina Exclusif

I selected Delina Exclusif as I love the sweeter, warmer approach. Dressed in a more vibrant pink bottle than the other fragrances, Delina Exclusif keeps her mysterious scent hidden until the last. With a higher concentration (Parfum), this perfume has a stronger presence throughout the day.

The Notes

• Head notes: The perfume is a fresh surprise. Starting on a fruity note with pear, litchi and grapefruit. Although I love this note in the perfume, it tends to fade after 1 hour.
• Heart notes: Once the head notes have settled, you can fully admire the heart of Delina. With its beautifully balanced powdery sweetness, the Rosa Damascena lifts the perfume. Accompanied by a darker side of rich incense and vetiver.
• Base notes: Last, we come to my favourite fragrance part. This is where the warm and comforting notes are revealed. Present from the moment you spray the perfume, the vanilla, music and every form of a second skin. Music can have a very close scent to human skin, which makes it ideal for a longer-lasting perfume.

My Review

With a high price range per bottle, I understand that Delina Exclusif can ring the alarms. But it's completely worth it! Why?

1. Longevity: Parfum is one of the highest concentrations a fragrance can have. This means your perfume lasts longer and generally gives off a wake as you walk around. I wear perfume of my liking but love to get compliments about it.
2. Contrast: This perfume is all about contrast. Fresh and warm, Floral and earthy, elegant and fierce.
3. Originality: The perfume markets are saturated with Rose based perfumes. So why buy this one, right? The brand has mastered taking classic notes and revealing a different face.
4. Body range available.
5. Smells fantastic: Perfume is a personal choice, and no two people will live the perfume the same way. Scents have a funny way of bringing back memories, and this one hit all the right spots for me.

Rose fragrances can sometimes smell a bit like they’re for a more mature audience – but in my opinion, this perfume redefines that stigma. Most rose-based fragrances smell quite similar, but this one is unique. Having smelled countless perfumes in my time, I had a preconceived idea of what this would smell like. But after the very first spritz, I realized it was totally different from that!

While Turkish rose and peony are the main notes, there is also a touch of nutmeg, bergamot, rhubarb, and lychee adding a modern twist. Undertones of vanilla, cashmeran and white musk also add a decadent, heady finish that creates a sensual, indulgent feel.

The bottle also makes for the most beautiful ornament for your dresser, which means there’s life left in the bottle even after you’ve used up all of the juice. An intricate pink pressed glass finish, dressed up with pink tassels to give the ultimate girly feel. And, the pièce de résistance for me, has got to be the crystal on the cap of the fragrance. It screams classiness and luxury.

Why I Love Delina So Much?

I found that this perfume lasted a very long time on the skin. It clings to clothes as well. I can still smell the scent strongly on my skin at the end of the day, which means that the ingredients are pure and potent. However, I’m not sure if this scent is one to wear every day. It feels too special! It’s strong, lingering, and not to mention quite expensive. I would say that this fragrance is the perfect ‘wedding day scent’. It’s pure enough to compliment the smell of any bridal bouquet, but also deep enough to exaggerate the sexiness and elegance a bride should feel on her wedding day.

I feel good when I wear this scent. I get complimented on it, and I know it lingers in a room after I’ve left it – because I’ve been told! And I love a fragrance that can leave a lasting impression like this, and it feels like a signature scent that I will use on special occasions. But that’s only because it’s my personal preference to wear something a little more subtle in day-to-day life. It’s also very versatile – I find it suitable for all seasons. I will wear it in cold weather and on my summer vacation, and it feels equally appropriate for both. This seriously attractive, more-ish smell will have everyone asking you what perfume you are wearing. A great conversation starter, if nothing else!

Moreover, there is a body care range in the same scent. I am really enjoying the shower gel. It has the same beautiful scent, and I have noticed my perfume lasts longer when I have bathed with Delina Shower Gel.
