The candle of a thousand tales

After recently visiting Asia, I wanted to bring a touch of the culture to my home. That's when I discovered the Madurai candle from Trudon.

Trudon candles

Made in France, the Trudon candles are crafted to perfection. It exists in 4 sizes, and you can adapt the scent to each room size. Trudon has a large selection of classic candles to match all occasions.

Indian jasmine

The story of the Duke of Tuscany inspired the Madurai candle. He first brought jasmine to India in 1690. Found all over the country, this emblematic flower, fresh or dried, plays a massive role in India's myths, legends and daily rituals. From perfumes and loose-leaf tea to being braided into floral necklaces, jasmine sambac is everywhere. Therefore, the Madurai candle captures every step of your journey.

The Scent

This candle is a dream come true for floral lovers. Inside its pure white wax hides a bouquet waiting to blossom. As soon as the candle is lit, a sweet note of Ylang-Ylang awakens. Bringing comfort to your spaces warms up the room to welcome a stronger and more present note of Sambac Jasmine absolute. Jamin is well known to have a fruity touch to it. As the scent travels through the room in bursts of freshness, it creates a laid-back atmosphere. Trudon married the floral notes to a sweet and warm note of Benzoin Resin to make the candle extra-addictive. Also, very close to Vanilla, it is said to clear negative energies.

My Experience

I was excited to discover Madurai and to relive my treasured memories from Asia. The candle comes in a vibrant blue case and looks stunning as decor. The scent did not let me down. It is delicious! I adore the scent of this candle and how long it lasts, even after the candle is out. Overall, I would recommend this to those who wish for a comforting, oriental touch to their home. Another great thing about the Trudon candles is that they burn slowly and equally. Thus, this ensures you get every penny worth from your candle. A pure gem!

It's time to dive into the juicy details of this candle. Inside its pure white wax is a burst of fruity and floral notes.

A Bergamot, Benzoin, and Cistus trio opens the candle on a fresh, vibrant note. Thus, Awakening the room, it sets the stage for the floral notes.

Mademoiselle de la Valliere candle is definitely a win for floral lovers. In the heart of this fragrance, you will find a mix of earthy, floral notes such as Galbanum, Jasmine, Musk, Orange Blossom, Tuberose, and Ylang Ylang. Mostly white flowers add a warmer touch to the candle. This lifts the Tuberose scent. Adding a feminine energy to your spaces sets a relaxing and sensual mood.

Trudon Candles

Trudon Mademoiselle de la Valliere Candle is rated as a medium-strength scent. It burns at a slow pace allowing you to get full use of the scented wax. Therefore, it is ideal for placing in your living space or bedroom.

Trudon candles are designed using Vegetable Wax and a Cotton Wick. Why is this important? By using high-quality products, you get the most out of your candles. As the wax melts, it releases the perfume into the air. Also, a cotton wick allows a sturdy burn and should always be cut to about 1cm from the wax.

Duration: 270g – 60hrs | 800g – 120hrs | 3kg – 300hrs.

Review

This version of the Trudons candle takes on a beautiful green coat. Trudon Mademoiselle de la Valliere Candle smells divine, and I understand why King Louis would be addicted. The tuberose scent is perfectly balanced with the other floral notes. It is perfect for the bedroom setting a comfortable mood in the room. I love how easy these candles are to look after. The wax always melts across the surface instead of digging deeper.

Overall, Mademoiselle de la Valliere has my approval!

My Review

This holiday season is all about gatherings and dinner, and what better way to set the “ambience” than a scented candle?

No stranger to the brand's candles, I did not doubt that the holiday collection would have me hooked. I use my candles in cycles of 2h in an average-sized room. The Gloria candle is perfect for any space and sets a beautiful cozy feeling. If you love Christmas, then this is the candle for you. The woody notes are gentle yet long-lasting, and the spicy notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves send me right back to hot mulled wine.

You can purchase this candle to make your guests feel at home or as a gift for those who always compliment your scented home. It is a stunning cancel case that can be endlessly re-used once the wax has melted.

The Alabaster Range

The Vesta candle is sculpted from a single block of Alabaster stone. I mean, what a work of art. The Romans, Greeks and Egyptians deeply admired this soft stone for its ability to filter light. The Alabaster forms a minimalistic and warmly lit case away from the original green glass. Also, the matching top to protect your candle is an excellent addition to the traditional Truson candle.

The Fragrance of Vesta

The richly perfumed wax releases a fruity chypre accord into the space of your choice. Bringing a calming and comfortable sensation to those close by.

Heart Notes: Freesia, Jasmine, Rose.

Starting on a floral note, the candle awakens the room with a sweet and gentle trio. Combined, the different flowers create a harmonious and long-lasting fragrance.

Base Notes: Tangerine, Moss, Musk.

Trudon added zestful tangerine and earthy notes to complement the floral accord. Also, this adds a whole other level of class and elegance.

The Story of Vesta

You may have already heard of the Vesta asteroid. Holding the name of a Roman deity, it fits perfectly into the Alabaster collection. Known throughout ancient mythology, Vesta's presence is represented by a holy fire/ eternal flame. Yet again very fitting.

Hence, the inspiration behind the candle, bringing you comfort and a halo of warm light.

The Art

Trudon The Alabasters – Vesta Candle offers around 55/ 60h of burning time. I have rarely seen such a dedicated and perfectionist brand in candle making. Here are a few reasons you can be sure about Trudons quality:

Performance: The brand uses raw materials to create its unique scents. Also, these materials are selected and assembled by world-class perfumers.

Handmade in Normandy, France, the candles go through multiple hands to reach you. The human eye has a knick for detail. That's why all the candles are poured and prepped by hand.

Also, from waxing to packaging, all the finishing details, like labels, stickers, and boxing, are done by humans.

My Review

I have now had my candle for over two weeks and adore it. Trudon candles are generally beautiful, but this collection is stunning. Above all, the candle fits perfectly into my home decor and dresses up and the surface it's presented on.

I burn the candle for around 2 hours each time and love the wave of light and freshness it brings to my home. The fragrance is slightly powdery and floral, hanging around for a long time, even after the candle is out.

I also love that this candle comes with a top, as I generally reuse the holders when the candle is finished. Thus, this will be perfect for my makeup bar.

Trudon: Everything started in 1643 at a candle and spice store in St Honore Street, Paris. Rapidly becoming a provider for royals and the court Trudon grew his business and opened his independent Trudon manufacturer. Creating the most iconic scents around, in 2018 they launched their bee conservancy program.

Balmain is a loyal Trudon candle fanatic. He claims to use the candles in his home and studio, the feminine-masculine balance creating a harmonious ambience. He added Balmain's iconic marinière to the glass container. Carefully covered in gold leaf, each glass has its unique pattern.

The Fragrance

The red & golden design exists in two sizes: classic or great.

Classic size: Weight: 270g / 9.5 oz (as in the picture).

Burning time: 55 to 60 hours

With its highly concentrated perfume every room benefits from the candle. Existing in many different scents, this one is internationally known.

Inside you will find a mixture of different scents that seem to melt into one another. It starts with a floral and feminine touch and then gains masculine character with cedarwood, gunpowder and cigar notes. To finish off it incorporates a deep black rose note.

The Inspiration

The white beeswax of the Trudon candles is the key to its greatness. Offering endless hours of rich, comforting fragrances. Thanks to its slow-burning wax, it is also that you can enjoy this candle for such a long time. The wicks are made of cotton.

The emblem originates from a bas relief found at the old Royal Wax Manufacture,

belonging to the Trudon family. The glass holder is hand-crafted in Tuscany and inspired by the luxurious champagne buckets.

Tips

To keep your candle in good shape you can follow some simple recommendations:

Burn your candle 2 hours at a time. This way you get a rich fragrance in your home and don't waste any.

Try to melt the entire surface of the candle. With its perfectly placed wicks, this should be no problem. By doing so you will leave no wax on the sides of the glass holder.

Scent Story

The story behind the name Odalisque is very unique. In the Ottoman Empire, Odalisques were slaves who served in the household of the sultan aka the king. In other words, chambermaid or female attendants in a Turkish Seraglio. They could improve their social status depending on their popularity in the court. Also, Odalisque was a very popular subject in European Orientalist art of the 19th century. This scent truly depicts an oriental canvas composed of bright colors.

Trudon Le Diffuseur is shaped out of the emblematic Trudon-green glass. The glass is handcrafted in the same glass manufacture as the iconic Trudon candles. The fluted container, 350ml, has a gold emblem and is topped with a recyclable aluminum ring. The overall look and packaging are excellent. It would look beautiful in any interior setup. Also, there are 8 natural, black rattan sticks included with the diffuser. Moreover, I really like how it fits in and enhances the setup and ambiance of any space. In regards to the refills of the Diffuser, they are available separately. The diffuser allows for a 3 to 4 month long, passive diffusion. This may change depending on the area of the room, weather, and environment. Lastly, I would suggest keeping it away from direct sunlight.

Trudon Le Diffuseur Odalisque is a classic orange blossom scent. It is amped up with spice and wood for depth. The scent is bright and deep, not too fruity. Orange, lemon, and orange blossom blend harmoniously with incense, wood notes, and a trace of vanilla. It is definitely a furiously romantic scent with a beautiful depth and warmth to it. Also, it is very different from any other orange blossom scent or home fragrance I have tried. It is not an overpowering scent but keeps reminding of its presence. Overall, it has truly adorned my space with a beautiful vibe and aura.

I have many favorites from the house but this is the first diffuser I have tried. I also love Carrière Frères home scents and diffusers. My current favorite includes La Rose aime l’Ambre Collection.
